Grammatical_polarity

Grammatical polarity indicates the truth or falsehood of a statement, or negation. There are two grammatical polarities, negated and not negated. In English, grammatical polarity is generally indicated by the presence or absence of the modifier not, which negates the statement. Many other languages contain similar modifiers: Italian and Interlingua have non, Spanish has no, French has ne ... pas, and German has nicht. Albanian has nuk. Hindi uses नहीं (nahī.n), न (na), and मत (mat). Arabic has لا (la), while Hebrew has לא (lo).
